We always feel the need to drink something warm in winter or when we are sick. The main benefits that you get from these remedies are exacerbated by two factors. The first is that being liquid, they quickly reach the bloodstream. Second, the heat generated in the stomach allows these drinks to be digested more easily, and their nutritional properties can help heal the affected areas. Here are five warm remedies good for your health:
Hot Chocolate good for dry cough
A very delicious remedy for dry cough is hot chocolate. But you should always prepare it at home: use a few squares of dark chocolate and milk. Chocolate contains theobromine, a substance found in cocoa beans. English researchers have found that this substance is an excellent cough suppressant and is more powerful than the medicines usually used to treat dry cough.
Willow leaves and/or clay poultice for menstrual pain
Make a paste of 100 grams of green clay with warm water. Add 10 drops of sage oil. Put everything in a towel and apply in the ovaries. Put the mixture in a towel and apply it on the ovaries. Clay and sage have anti-inflammatory and calming effects. In addition, the released heat calms the contractions of the uterus.
Red wine with cinnamon for colds and sore throats
Red wine contains a substance known for its properties: resveratrol. Resveratrol is an antioxidant that protects healthy cells from viruses and bacteria. Cinnamon also contains an antioxidant that, along with that of red wine, has a decongestant, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effect on the respiratory system. It can also acts as an antibiotic. If you have a sore throat, a glass of red wine in which you add and a sprinkle of cinnamon and a teaspoon of honey can soothe the pain. For more acute pain, take a teaspoon of honey mixed with cinnamon and avoid drinking anything for 30 minutes.
Eucalyptus steam inhalation for unplugging your sinuses
Eucalyptus has analgesic and antimicrobial effects. Put in a bowl of 5-6 drops of eucalyptus oil in 500 ml of boiling water, place you head above it, cover it with a towel and wait 15 minutes over the vessel, breathing the air that is released. It will not only unplug your nose, but also relieve headaches, bouts of coughing and sore throats. Eucalyptus oil can even help if you have fever: apply on the chest eucalyptus oil compresses diluted in warm water.
Flax flour poultice for symptoms of bronchitis
In a skillet put 200 ml of water and 5 tablespoons of flax flour. Leave to boil stirring continuously until you get a paste. Let it cool slightly, then put mixture in a towel and apply it to the chest. Flax flour has antiseptic and soothing properties, reducing bouts of coughing and releasing the airways. For bronchitis, you can also apply hot poultice containing coarse salt. Besides calming your cough, steam from the salt also unplugs your nose. Before applying a poultice on skin always check how hot it is.
